Senior Staff Accountant

Position Summary:

We are searching for a Senior Staff Accountant to join our growing team in Redwood Shores. Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, this individual will play a critical role in the preparation of financial statements and reporting for the company. This hands on role is responsible for addressing tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including month-end close, financial reporting, support of tax, and other financial activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform a variety of month-end closing procedures, posting of journal entries including but not limited to cash, prepaid rent, deferred assets, fixed assets, debt warrant liability and revenue in accordance with GAAP
  • Assist with financial statements & analysis
  • Perform monthly flux analysis and monthly analytics
  • Complete assigned reconciliations of assets and liability accounts and provide detail support for review
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Prepare monthly cost allocations
  • Assist with AP/AR functions
  • Reconcile monthly credit card transactions
  • Track fixed assets and prepare depreciation schedules
  • Prepare sales and use tax returns
  • Assist with preparation of audit supporting schedules for external auditors
  • Ensure compliance with SOX
  • Bring ideas of process and procedures improvements
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, required
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting is required
  • Experience with public company is required
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures in accordance with GAAP
  • Experience with ERP systems (preferably Netsuite)
  • Experience identifying issues, performing research and analysis of causes and recommending processes or actions to solve the issues
  • Experience owning a project from initial stage to implementation
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, along with multitasking capabilities
  • Detail-oriented, accurate and extremely organized
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must have advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
